The Power of Jewellery

The feeling of confidence an amazing outfit can bring is something we all aspire to. But an outfit isn’t just about the clothes – the right jewellery can not only complete a look, but provide a feeling of empowerment and strength like no other. Anyone who has experience of wearing fine jewellery will know it can offer a level of assurance you can’t get elsewhere – and that’s not just because you love the way it looks, but because of how it makes you feel

To fully achieve that experience is all in the quality and design of the jewellery, and there are few jewellers that do both better than Clogau. The British, family-owned brand is renowned for creating the highest quality hand-finished jewellery, expertly crafted using Welsh gold, some of the most sought-after and rarest of its kind.

Today, Welsh gold is scarcer than it has ever been, making Clogau jewellery even more special, and each piece an instant heirloom. But while the brand is steeped in rich history, Clogau jewellery is very much on-trend, with striking pieces to really elevate your collection. Ben Roberts, Managing Director at Clogau, says: “This year's hottest accessories are all about having fun. Taking a step away from the modest minimalist, it is all about being bold and glamorous”

Royal seal of approval

Speaking of glamour, Welsh gold gets the royal seal of approval too – the British Royal Family has a long-standing tradition of using the rare metal for wedding rings. It all started with Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon back in 1923, and carried on with Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret, Princess Anne and Princess Diana.

And it doesn’t end there. Other members of the Royal Family to wear Welsh gold include King Charles and Catherine, Princess of Wales. The tradition was last seen being carried into its 95th year in May 2018, when Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, got married.

A real rarity

Welsh gold is steeped in history, with mining going back as far as 75AD. There were a few mining locations since that time, including the Clogau St David's Gold Mine, which produced just shy of 2,500kg of gold in 50 years. After closing in 1911, gold from Clogau St David's Gold Mine became some of the most rare and sought-after metals – so much so that as of today, it can be valued up to 30 times more than standard world gold.

With Welsh gold so rare and limited, only a small amount is included in Clogau jewellery, which not only helps preserve the supply, but Clogau’s affordability. So you get timeless style and a small part of a rich history at an achievable price.

Excellent ethics

Alongside its rich history, Clogau jewellery also tells a story of integrity. While the industry and mining of precious metals is rooted in exploitation, Clogau is a brand that prides itself on creating the highest quality jewellery using ethically mined gold and conflict-free diamonds.

A stringent seven-stage quality control process is in place, with the quality of construction, finish and methods used under constant review and improvement. So you can be confident the jewellery you buy from Clogau is ethical, and adheres to the highest quality and processing standards.

With the weather teasing us with summer, now is the perfect time to add some new jewellery to your collection. From Clogau’s new sunshine-style stud earrings for everyday elegance, to its timeless Tree of Life® gold necklace, Clogau has all your timeless jewellery wants and needs covered.
