The Pokemon Company will release a "special video" celebrating 30 years of Pokemon during Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8, the company announced on Wednesday.
It's unclear when in the Super Bowl proceedings the video will air – the major US football tournament is a famed advertisement fiesta with an extensive halftime show – but The Pokemon Company is clear on this video "debuting during" the show itself, not just on Sunday.
Working off the "#Pokemon30" hashtag attached to the video on Twitter and YouTube, some fans have speculated that this teaser indicates the impending release of another Pokemon collab album similar to 'Pokemon 25: The Album', which collected 14 Pokemon songs and remixes featuring artists like Katy Perry, Lil Yachty, and Post Malone.
The star of the #Pokemon30 teaser trailer is Super Smash Bros. Melee powerhouse, Pokemon Snap staple, and iconic songstress Jigglypuff, seen here floating around a recording studio. A few short melodies are heard throughout the teaser, and all this certainly fits with the album theory.
That being said, the #Pokemon25 tag was also used for the full-fat Pokemon Presents show that aired on February 26, 2021, so it alone is no guarantee of a follow-up album.
Recent chatter around mainline Pokemon game developer Game Freak has focused on a rare non-Pokemon release: Beast of Reincarnation, an upcoming action RPG where you parry bosses to power up your dog companion, whose strength is directly affected by how much pet and feed it – a very 'Pokemon developer' approach to an action RPG.
