The Pokémon Company is donating $200,000 towards Ukraine relief efforts

The Pokémon Company International is donating $200,000 towards humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine.

On Thursday, The Pokémon Company shared a statement regarding the ongoing crisis within the country.

“The growing crisis in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, which continues to cause the displacement of families and threaten the safety of children, is heartbreaking,” The Pokémon Company said on Twitter. “The Pokémon Company International is making an immediate donation of $200,000 USD to our partners at GlobalGiving to provide humanitarian relief. The nonprofit will efficiently direct the funds to community-led organizations supporting families and children affected by the crisis.”

The complete statement is available below.

Earlier this week, Ukraine’s vice prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov called for the entire games industry to sever all ties with Russia temporarily, specifically PlayStation and Xbox. Neither Sony nor Microsoft has yet to acknowledge Fedorov or Russia’s invasion of Ukraine yet.

As part of the growing support for Ukraine within the games industry, EA Sports is taking Russia’s national soccer and hockey teams out of FIFA 22 and NHL 22, respectively. There’s no confirmation if the annual sequels for both sports franchises will follow suit.
