The Open to move away from traditional date to avoid clash with Los Angeles Olympics

The 2028 Open will be held away from the tournament’s regular slot in July to avoid a clash with the Los Angeles Olympics.

The major has traditionally been held on the weekend containing the third Friday in July, but has been shifted into August due to an overlap with the Olympics, which run from 14 July to 30 July.
