The One Show's Alex Jones shares family snaps of 'lovely' Boxing Day reunion with Matt Baker

The One Show's Alex Jones has delighted fans of the BBC One programme by sharing the "lovely" reunion she had with her former co-star Matt Baker on Boxing Day. Matt and Alex presented from the green sofa together for 9 years from 2011 until his exit in 2020.

Alex, who is currently taking a break from The One Show for Christmas, revealed the pair had spent some time together on Boxing Day after she took her family to a pantomime at Richmond Theatre. The 45-year-old shared pictures of her husband Charlie and their three children as they settled in to watch Goldilocks an the Three Bears.

Posting a picture of the stage set that read "The Greatest Show on Earth" to her Instagram Story, the Welsh presenter told her followers: "It really was! Thank you Richmond Theatre. It will be a very memorable part of our Christmas."

In a second post Alex then revealed her former co-star and friend Matt was the "star of the show" playing Joey the Clown. Sharing a picture of him backstage with her two sons, Alex wrote: "And the star of the show was the very brilliant @mattbakerofficial or Joey as the boys now insist on calling him! Lovely to be reunited."

And it wasn't the only The One Show reunion as Angellica Bell also reunited with Matt at the panto. Sensing a sweet message to her friend on social media, Angellica wrote: "Went to see my ole mate @mattbakerofficial in panto today at @richmondtheatre (Oh yes I did!). I have no idea how he keeps his energy levels up for so long, and he's got another show at 5pm! 20 years of friendship right there. Great to see you, Matt....MBE! Superstar!"

Matt announced he was quitting The One Show live on-air in December 2019, telling fans: "The One Show has been a massive part of my life for almost a decade now and I have loved every second of being a part of it. But I am going to be leaving this green sofa in the spring."

Matt's last show in April 2020 was rather a strange one as he appeared via video link from home after one of his family displayed symptoms of coronavirus. In emotional scenes, Matt told Alex: "We've had some good times Al. I've watched your life change as well. You've got married, had two children and it's quite amazing really that we've been together for nine, nearly 10 years."

As tears started to roll, Alex then admitted: "You are holding it together way better than I am!" For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
