In the midst of all the never-ending jubilee talk on The One Show, hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas managed to crowbar in some banter about the Welsh football team reaching the World Cup in Qatar and facing the old enemy England in the group stages. Jenas, who has 21 caps for his national team, raised the subject of Wales beating Ukraine to guarantee the squad a place at the World Cup for the first time in 64 years.
"And to top off a fantastic week for you, the Welsh are going to the World Cup, I know you had it on," teased the former England midfielder on Monday's programme. "Fully engrossed in the football as usual."
"Hang on," Alex stopped him. "We're against you lot now." Jenas retorted: "Yeah you are, you're up against the English in our group. You got there and that's the main thing."
Alex replied: "Hey! We're going to stay there! Less of it JJ!" as the studio broke into laughter and Jenas clearly enjoying winding up his Welsh colleague and them both agreeing to knock off the football talk.
Alex was sticking up for the football team who managed to banish the demons of past failures while extending their unbeaten record at Cardiff City Stadium to 17 matches. Gareth Bale scored from a free-kick in the first-half to settle what was an enthralling play-off final contest at Cardiff City Stadium.
The pair turned to welcoming guests Paul Hollywood, AJ Odudu and David Mitchell and you can catch-up with the rest of the show on BBC iPlayer.
