The one county in Wales where Covid cases have risen in the last week

Of the 22 local authorities in Wales just one has seen an increase in their coronavirus infection rates over the last seven days.

With the reduction in people taking PCR tests it is hard to compare these numbers to what we were seeing before Christmas. However, week to week they can still provide an indication of the level of Covid in Wales.

These figures are seven-day rolling totals for new cases adjusted for population (per 100,000 people). It is important to remember that though these figures are a useful guide they are just part of the story. If testing massively increases in one place there is likely to be a rise in confirmed cases. However these figures are still a vital factor in Welsh Government and Public Health Wales decision-making.

The latest seven-day infection rate across Wales, based on the cases for every 100,000 people (for the seven days up to February 13) now stands at 290.9 – a big fall from 400 the week before.

Only Ceredigion has seen an increase in the infection rate in the last 7 days, marking a 75% increase.

Every other part of Wales has seen a fall with Newport seeing the largest drop of 44% in 7 days
