The Old Fish Market in Bristol wins Fuller’s Best City Pub Award

The Old Fish Market in Bristol has been announced the winner of the Best City Pub category in Fuller’s Pub of the Year competition. The pub on Baldwin Street beat two venues in London to the title among the brewing company's pubs across the UK.

There are only three Fuller's pubs in the Bristol area in total - The Cambridge Arms, The Windmill and The Old Fish Market. General Manager Richard Bower describes The Old Market as "a country pub" in the heart of the city centre.

Bristol's move-loved oak-furnished watering hole is known for its classic pub grub as well as for showing live sport and music. Behind the bar, there’s an impressive whisky selection plus premium gins, wines, cocktails, and fresh cask and keg beers - including the brewer's popular London Pride.

Richard Bower, general manager of The Old Fish Market, said: “I am so pleased to get such fantastic recognition for my work at the pub. I’m really proud of my team who work hard to ensure The Old Fish Market is a great pub with fantastic food, top quality drinks and friendly service.

"The Old Fish Market is a country pub in a city centre. It’s a great spot for watching live sports but also for any other occasion – whether it’s dinner, drinks or a private party in our function room. We always deliver a great Fuller’s experience and this award is a great reflection of that goal.”

Fuller's chairman Michael Turner said: “The Old Fish Market is a prime example of a great pub that offers variety to all, but always at the highest standard. It’s a melting pot of sports enthusiasts, cask ale drinkers, craft beer fans, Bristol’s young student population, and the city’s professionals. Richard and his team have created a fun, warm and comfortable atmosphere for all to enjoy.”

The Griffin Trophy is open to all of Fuller’s 208 Managed Pubs and Hotels and 178 Tenanted Inns. Following an extensive selection process, the 12 finalists of The Griffin Trophy were visited by Chairman Michael Turner, Chief Executive Simon Emeny, and People & Talent Director Dawn Browne to choose the category and overall winners.

The prize for winning the category comprises a £2,000 holiday voucher, a staff party, and an engraved plaque for the pub. Fullerton's The Mayfly in Hampshire was crowned the 2022 winner of The Griffin Trophy.

The pub is located at 59-63 Baldwin Street, Bristol BS1 1QZ - open seven days a week
