The official trailer for Part 2 of The Crown's final season has been released on Friday, December 1.
It comes a couple weeks ahead of the show's remaining episodes, which will premiere on Netflix on December 14, and follows the debut of Part 1 on November 16.
Creator and writer of the series Peter Morgan will once again pull back the curtains to reveal the mystique of the royal family in the teased 'epic conclusion'.
It will feature now-older brothers Prince William and Harry, portrayed by Ed McVey and Luther Ford, as they come to terms with their mother Princess Diana's tragic death (played by Elizabeth Debicki), who passed away alongside Dodi Fayed (portrayed by Khalid Abdalla) in a horrific car crash in Paris.
William heads back to Eton amid the struggle to re-adjust, spurring family tensions. Later on, he takes up his place at St Andrew’s University, as viewers get a glimpse of his budding romance with Kate Middleton while "the omnipresent conflict of life as a public servant continues".
Other notable storylines involve Charles’ wedding with Camilla Parker Bowles (Olivia Williams) and the irrevocable change to the Commonwealth. Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth II (Imelda Staunton) contemplates her life and legacy, and examines how she will pave the way for her successors.
Approaching her ninth decade, the Queen is forced to dig deep and decide the best way forward for the monarchy.
Christian Schwochow, who took over episodes two, three, and four of Part 1, described the episodes he directed as “a three-part tragedy”. Before their release, he warned that they were very different from anything seen up to that point in The Crown.Mr Morgan’s "epic, award-winning drama" has been nominated for and won many awards. On the impressive list are 27 BAFTA nominations, 19 Golden Globe Nominations (including 7 wins), and 69 Emmy Nominations across 5 seasons (with 21 wins across 4 seasons).
