Here is today's edition of The Nottinghamian:

Hello,

Today's edition of The Nottinghamian celebrates four Nottinghamshire men who played key roles in Queen Elizabeth II's funeral yesterday. Friends and family of the men have been sharing how proud they are of them following the historic event.

We will also discuss the opening of a new street food hall in Sneinton Market. It is the latest edition to the thriving area. Plus a Bulwell pub has had to address rumours circulating online and we take a look at just one of the many royal visits to Nottingham in the Queen's lifetime.

'Incredibly proud'

Nottinghamshire is feeling proud about the key role some of our men played in the Queen's funeral. Friends and family of Luke Simpson from Selston, Dean Jones from Long Eaton, Aaron - whose surname is unknown but is from Ashfield - and Luke Taylor from Mapperley, shared photos and stories of the men online.

Two of the men, Mr Jones and Mr Simpson, were among the coffin bearers as proud 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards. Selston Football Club said they were delighted to see Mr Simpson and proclaimed that the young man had 'done his country, village, family and friends proud'.

Lee Anderson, Conservative MP for Ashfield, also offered praise. He said: "Ashfield Lads. Luke and Aaron doing their duty and making their families and the whole of Ashfield feel incredibly proud. Serving Queen and country." Facebook group Spotted: Long Eaton identified Mr Jones as one of the pallbearers. It read: "We spotted one of our own Long Eaton boys, Dean Jones, lead Her Majesty's coffin pallbearers with complete calmness and total professionalism. Long Eaton salutes you Sir."

A post by family members in the Mapperley People group identified Luke Taylor. They wrote: "'This is our son, Luke Taylor of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He was born and raised in Mapperley. Luke was one of only twenty-five Royal Welsh Fusiliers picked to walk in the funeral procession. Both sides of his family have members who have served. Well done Luke. A proud moment for the family." Opening date

Avenue E in Sneinton Market will soon be home to a large street food venue (Joseph Raynor/ Nottingham Post)

The eagerly awaited Sneinton Market street food venue has announced it will be opening at the end of the month. Bustler Market, which already has one location in Derby, has expanded to create a second location in one of the Avenues which will open on Friday, September 30 at 5pm.

The market will offer independent eateries, drinking, and live music, which will be a welcome addition to the already thriving creative area. Construction on the new market has been underway for some time in order to transform Avenue E into a hub with a capacity for 500 people with a further 300 outside.

The venue, which will have gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options, has announced that some of the best local and UK-wide traders will be joining them for opening weekend. Vendors will include Prad Thai, Elcapos Pizza, Kebab Cartel, Yardbirds chicken and The Bournville Waffle Company.

Food fans can expect vendors on rotation with new food on offer each week. The food vendors will be joined by a bar that serves a range of drinks including cocktails and craft beers. There will be at least one Nottingham brewery on offer to help support local businesses. The dog-friendly market will also host DJs. Read more here.

Notts nostalgia

As the world said goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II yesterday, it has been a time to reflect on her life as Britain's longest-serving monarch. The Queen visited Nottingham many times during her reign, giving us a glimpse into her royal life. In 2012 the Queen, alongside the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, paid a visit to our city to mark her Diamond Jubilee.

On June 13, the royals attended a children's sports event at Vernon Park, Basford and made an appearance on the Council House balcony. It was not the first time the Queen had made such a visit. On her first stop to Nottingham in 1946, Princess Elizabeth greeted a 10,000-strong crowd on the balcony where she had tea and dinner at the Council House with the Lord Mayor and Prince Philip.

Nottingham has been graced with many visits from the Queen, where she was always given a taste of life in our city. The late monarch had paid a visit to the University of Nottingham, saw the opening of the Queen’s Medical Centre, watched the Royal Show at Wollaton Park and got a behind-the-scenes look at Burkin's lace factory.

Pub 'gossip'

A Bulwell pub has been forced to address rumours on its social media page over the future of its management. The Monkey was the subject of a discussion on Facebook after residents spotted an advert for new management online.

The pub, which is located on Main Street, took to Facebook to tackle what it called 'gossip' and put the rumours to rest. They stated that the staff were just following the law around pub refurbishments by advertising online. They confirmed that no one will be going anywhere and the pub will continue under current management.

The team wrote: "Bulwell community please ignore the post flying around as the ownership of the Monkey won’t be changing. As we all know some Bulwell residents love a good gossip but that’s just what it is - GOSSIP." The advert still remains visible online. Nottinghamshire Live attempted to contact the pub for further comment.
