Blizzard revealed the next new Overwatch 2 hero during the FPS game’s esports playoffs, and as the publisher promised in the game’s roadmap, the new hero is a tank – Ramattra. Ramattra is set to debut in Overwatch 2 season two, which should go live on Dec. 6, 2022, alongside a new map, new battle pass rewards, and a new mythic skin, among other things.
Blizzard describes Ramattra as a complex war machine who laid down his arms in favor of a shield. Ramattra shares some of his philosophies with Zenyatta, but where Zenyatta aims for harmony, Ramattra’s past sufferings cause him to seek a more practical, forceful method to impose order – and his own ideas – on the world around him.
How that origin story translates to Ramattra’s playstyle remains to be seen. Blizzard said the development team will release more information sometime before season two begins. Considering we’re barely a month out from the new season, the next round of Ramattra info probably isn’t that far away.
As with the game’s most recent new hero, Kiriko the healer, Ramattra will be available either immediately for those who purchase the Overwatch 2 battle pass or at tier 50 of the pass for those who take the free route.
