The Newcastle restaurants slashing prices all month to help diners during cost of living crisis

Newcastle restaurant week may be coming to an end but the owners of some of the city's best-known eateries have promised their deals will continue for a whole month.

The Gainford Group, which owns popular restaurants Aveika, Hudson, Above and The Maven, in Newcastle city centre, said they are extending their offer throughout August in a bid to help diners affected by the cost of living crisis. The family-run hospitality business said it wants to ensure customers feeling the squeeze of soaring bills can still enjoy a night out in the city by slashing its prices.

That means diners visiting any of the four restaurants will still be able to enjoy offers including two courses for £15 or three courses for £20 even when the official restaurant week comes to an end on August 14.

Imran Khaliq, Gainford Group director, said: "We are running the offers across the whole group for the entire month.

"We just thought with the cost of living crisis that we would slash the process across the whole group so that includes Aveika, the Hudson, the Maven and Above.

"We are running the offer for the whole month of August but depending on how things turn out we might do it for longer. We know the cost of living crisis [is affecting people] and we thought this might help city trade.

"We also understand the difficult times everyone is in at the moment and we didn't want it to stop people from having a good time and socialising so we have put the offers on to make sure that people can still go out."

The restaurants, which are also offering drinkers two cocktails for £10 for the rest of August, said customers have been delighted with the offers and are still taking bookings from those eager to bag a discounted meal.

"We have had a fantastic response," Imran continued.

"A lot of people have been thanking us and saying they really appreciate it. We are a family-owned business in Newcastle city centre that employs over 2,000 people across the North East.

"We understand it is a difficult time for everybody and we want to give back to the North East."
