DJ Jay Rockwell, 41, and photographer Kristina Leikaite, 29, founded a cowboy brunch event called 'Yeehaw' in the city last year and have been blown away by the response from Geordies. Featuring Country music, dancers, unlimited drinks, and even a rodeo bull to ride, the event has been a hit since it first launched at Revolution on Collingwood Street in January 2022.
Jay, who is from Gosforth, fell in love with Country music while living in South Carolina during his university years and came up with the idea of holding a cowboy brunch event as a way of introducing the music genre to people back home.
