The new films and shows out on Disney+ this weekend - October 14

As Marvel's She Hulk: Attorney at Law aired its final episode on Disney+ this week, you may be wondering what else can can sink your teeth into. If superheroes, Star Wars or Kardashians are not really your thing, we have you covered.

Whether you are itching to get your next true crime fix or fancy a comedic twist on a classic Shakespearian tale, Disney's streaming service has something for everyone to get stuck into this damp, autumnal weekend.

Here are the new films and shows being released on Disney+ this weekend.

Candy

This biographical true crime drama tells the shocking true story of Candy Montgomery (Jessica Biel), a housewife and mother who was accused of the axe murder of her neighbor, Betty Gore (Melanie Lynskey) in Texas, 1980. Candy was a woman who did everything right – good husband, two kids and a nice house – but when the pressure of conformity builds within her, her actions scream for freedom, with deadly results.

Rosaline

Rosaline is a romantic comedy that offers a fresh and comedic twist on Shakespeare’s classic love story Romeo & Juliet, told from the perspective of Juliet’s cousin and Romeo’s jilted ex, Rosaline (Kaitlyn Dever). Heartbroken when Romeo meets Juliet and begins to pursue her, Rosaline schemes to foil the famous Montague-Capulet romance and win back her guy.

Let the World See

This three-part docuseries follows Mamie Till-Mobley and her quest for justice after her son Emmett Till was abducted, tortured, and lynched in Mississippi in 1955. The series – with appearances from Michelle Obama and Jesse Jackson – examines the life and murder of 14-year-old Emmett and its effects on the Civil Rights Movement and African-American life today.

Screen Queens Rising

Soul of a Nation presents an exploration of how black actresses – a historically overlooked and under-valued group in Hollywood – have in recent years begun to ascend to the top echelons of entertainment and American culture. This special hears from Hollywood stars including Halle Berry, Whoopi Goldberg and Tessa Thompson, and explores how black actresses of Hollywood have become power brokers while examining the iconic moments and roles that paved the way for them today.
