A 22-storey build-to-rent development in the centre of Cardiff will be completed this summer.
The £57m project, at the Capital Quarter development from JR Smart, has been named the Copper Works in recognition of Wales’ mining and cooper heritage.
The project from Grainger - the UK’s largest listed provider of rented homes - will provider 307 apartments for rent. It will feature a deep copper coloured facade, two roof terraces and a games room.
Leesa Ingham, head of marketing at Grainger, said: “When naming any Grainger development, we carefully research the history of the site, surrounding famed landmarks and the heritage of the local area, to inspire our thinking and the naming process.
“The Copper Works was the favoured name for our first development in Wales, given the country’s poignant industrial heritage, and revolutionary copper credentials during the Bronze Age.
“The naming of a new scheme also impacts design decisions with interiors, soft furnishings and wayfinding within the development often taking inspiration from the name.
“We look forward to revealing further details of our The Copper Works development, which visually, certainly nods to its given name.”
The cost of renting apartments have yet to be confirmed but tenancies will be available from a year to 26 months.
