Whoever said the Summer League doesn’t matter is technically correct, but that buries the lede. Who doesn’t love watching young players in their early 20s flail around doing incredible (and confounding) things at the same time?
At this point, these players should honestly get some kind of awesome reward for their high-flying efforts in Las Vegas. Like, say, some fancy jewels to the team that eventually finishes the 75-game, 11-day, mini-league on top. Ugh, if only someone had that kind of cool foresight to make it happen and give a fun basketball exhibition a little extra edge.
As it turns out, per ESPN’s Malika Andrews, the NBA plans to do precisely that!
For the first time, rings will be handed out to the Summer League champions. We got an exclusive look on NBA Today. What do you think? pic.twitter.com/HovjFNXKFE

Oh wow. Look at (what I assume are) the diamonds on those things!
Ultimately, Summer League still means nothing. But I, for one, am excited to see young guys who have nothing to lose soon go all out to get those pretty jewels on their ring fingers.
