On 24 August 2019, Elijah McClain was walking home from a convenience store in Aurora, Colorado, listening to music and wearing a ski mask, when a 911 caller reported him as “looking sketchy”.
It was a call that would lead to the 23-year-old’s death and trigger a social uprising over the role race plays in policing.
