When Quentin Tarantino makes a movie, it is an event. That's been the case pretty much since the director burst onto the scenes in the early '90s with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. But when it is his 10th and supposedly final movie, ratchet that excitement up a notch. That's what we thought we were getting with The Movie Critic, but that appears to have changed.
After details started to come in about what The Movie Critic may be, it seems that things have changed and the movie is no longer going forward.

Tarantino was reportedly going to begin production on The Movie Critic in August 2024, so it was never going to make it in as a 2024 new movie, but now it is being removed from the slate entirely as Tarantio apparently is going back to the drawing board for his 10th movie, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
The Movie Critic plot
Deadline interviewed Quentin Tarantino at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where he provided the first solid details on what The Movie Critic plot was going to be about.
Tarantino said that the story takes place in California 1977 and "is based on a guy who really lived, but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag." Tarantino did not reveal the name of the magazine the real-life critic wrote for, but said in the movie it'll be called The Popstar Pages.
According to The Hollywood Reporter that morphed however with the reported casting of Brad Pitt, with the movie turning into a new story centered on the actor's character from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Cliff Booth.
The Movie Critic cast
No actors have been announced as part of The Movie Critic cast as of yet, but you can imagine many will be lining up for the chance to work with Quentin Tarantino.
Tarantino has a number of actors that he has frequently worked with throughout his career, including Samuel L. Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tim Roth, Christoph Waltz and Brad Pitt. However, again in the Deadline column, Tarantino said that at least the lead role is not going to be occupied by any of those actors, as he is looking for someone in "the 35 year-old ball park."
However, the first bit of casting news around The Movie Critic signals may be working with one of his well known collaborators. Multiple outlets reported that Brad Pitt was "likely reuniting" with Tarantino for a movie, though the deal is not official at this time.

We're a long way from a trailer for The Movie Critic coming out, as cameras aren't even expected to start rolling until fall 2023.
Is The Movie Critic Quentin Tarantino's last movie?
It appears not based on the reports that Tarantino has moved on from the project. We'll have to wait and see what the director has up his sleeves for his alleged final movie.
