The upcoming Resident Evil movie adaptation by Barbarian and Weapons director Zach Cregger will not feature one of the franchise's most popular characters. Cregger wishes to create a new story while still adhering to game canon and conventions, leaving out traditional characters.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Cregger said his RE adaptation will be “an entirely original story,” that is very much his own. “It's just [that] it takes place in the Resident Evil world. I don't think fans of the games are gonna be bummed,” he said.
