The most bizarre quotes from Donald Trump's rambling victory speech

Speaking to supporters during his Florida watch party, Donald Trump announced his victory in the US presidential election.

Here are a few bizarre standout quotes from the 78-year-old’s victory speech.

Trump describes Musk as ‘new star’

Following a few cheers from the audience, Mr Trump discussed Elon Musk, the owner of X and the second-richest person in the world, who has grown to be a key figure in his campaign.

He called Musk a “new star” of the Republican party before regaling the billionaire with a long yarn about how he once put him on hold for 40 minutes while he watched a SpaceX rocket video. Mr Trump also added that Musk is a "wonderful" man.

What has Musk done in return?

Musk tweeted a photoshopped image of himself in the Oval Office, carrying a sink, with the caption, ”Let that sink in”.

Trump claims he survived assassination attempt ‘for a reason’

Mr Trump made only a passing reference to the July assassination attempt on him, which he survived after a bullet grazed his ear during a campaign event.

As suggested throughout his campaign, he assured the crowd that his life was “saved for a reason”.

Mr Trump claimed that the presidency is the “most important job in the world” and that he will bring “every ounce of spirit and fight” to the White House.

He went on to say that “Promises made, promises kept” will be the phrase he uses to rule.

RFK Jr will ‘make America healthy again’

Mr Trump seemed to imply that Robert F Kennedy Jr, the former independent presidential candidate with a track record of endorsing baseless vaccination conspiracy theories, would have a part in his administration's healthcare system.

In August, Mr Kennedy left the race to support Mr Trump.

Mr Trump said: “RFK Jr came in and he's going to help Make America Healthy Again. He’s a great guy and really wants to do some things, and we’re going to let him do it.”

He then added with a playful jab, “Bobby, stay away from the liquid gold. We have more liquid gold than any country in the world. Other than that, go have a good time, Bobby.”

‘America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate’

Mr Trump informed the audiences at Florida that he hopes they would remember this as “one of the most important days of your life” in the future.

He continued, “America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate”, alluding to his party's victory over the Democratic party in the Senate.

JD Vance is a ‘feisty guy’

During the address, Mr Trump congratulated his running mate, JD Vance, who said that Mr Trump had just executed “the greatest political comeback in American history”.

“I want to be the first one to congratulate – now I can say Vice President-elect JD Vance. And his remarkable and beautiful wife, Usha Vance,” he said.

While complimenting the 40-year-old, Mr Trump added that he is a “feisty guy”.

Melania has ‘number one bestselling book in the country’

Mr Trump didn’t forget to praise his wife Melania Trump and congratulated her on the recently published memoir, Melania.

“I want to also thank my beautiful wife Melania, First Lady, who has the number one bestselling book in the country, can you believe it! Oh no, she’s done a great job, works very hard, works very hard to help people.”

Mrs Trump wrote about her pro-choice views on abortion, her encounter with Donald Trump in a nightclub in New York City, and rumours that her son has autism.

While Mr Trump’s comments signified that the memoir is selling very well, Vanity Fair reported that the books aren’t selling, with another source suggesting the book was the number one bestseller for the first week.
