The Minnesota Vikings are going for their fourth 7-1 start in the last 25 years

It’s no secret that this season has been a massive success for the Minnesota Vikings. New head coach Kevin O’Connell and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah have made this competitive rebuild a success over the first seven games.

Their success so far this season has been excellent. They have started with a 6-1 record and are already 4-0 in one-score games, a record that was 6-8 last season.

With a win on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, the Vikings would accomplish their fourth 7-1 start since the 1998 season. The previous three times it happened the Vikings made the NFC Championship Game.

Before the season, a division title would have been a great outcome for 2022. Now that the Vikings are far and away in the driver’s seat for the division title, it’s natural to think even bigger.

The Vikings had excellent seasons in 1998, 2000 and 2009 that unfortunately all ended in losses one game before the Super Bowl. The hope is that the Vikings don’t have the same end to the season but making it that far would be a huge win for the future of the franchise.
