The New York Mets absolutely obliterated the New York Yankees, 12-3, at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night.
What made it even sweeter for Mets fans was that the victory came in front of the biggest crowd at Yankee Stadium so far this season.
While we’re sure a good portion of Wednesday evening’s crowd was from the Mets contingent of New York, this is still a terribly embarrassing result for the Yankees against their crosstown rival.
Newsday Sports reporter Tim Healey noted the Yankee Stadium crowd featured 48,760 people, plenty of likely miserable Yankees fans among them.
While the Yankees are still formidable playoff contenders in the American League, they’ll probably want to put Wednesday’s loss behind them quickly.
