The first Monday of May means one thing—we're blessed with the Met Gala 2023 red carpet. The Met Gala red carpet delivers the greatest red carpet looks of them all and we can't wait to see what the biggest night in fashion has in store.
Last year Kim Kardashian caused quite a stir when she wore Marylin Monroe's dress to tie in with the theme of Gilded Glamour—fans were convinced the Marylin Monroe dress was destroyed following Kim Kardashian's Met Gala outing.
This year, the theme is Karl Lagerfeld, specifically his exhibition 'A Line of Beauty' and we can't wait to see what the A-list stylists will pull out the bag—here's hoping for some serious Barbiecore inspiration. The idea is for all the specially selected attendees to grace the red carpet in something from the Lagerfeld archive, but some celebs have already admitted to going against the theme.
Lagerfeld sadly passed away in 2019, and is well known and loved as the creative director of Chanel, and La La Anthony one of the first arrivals on the Met Gala red carpet tonight, is giving serious Chanel vibes.
Celebrities spend weeks preparing to be Met Gala ready and we look back at the best Met Gala looks of all time in anticipation.
All our favourite celebrities have arrived in New York in style and if Rihanna's pre-Met Gala look is anything to go by, we are in for a serious treat this evening.
We'll be updating this story live all night with the best Met Gala 2023 red carpet looks, so bookmark this page to see which celebs do the Lagerfeld theme best.

The Met Gala 2023: Everything you need to know about Fashion's big night out
The Met Gala 2023 red carpet: first looks
The Met Gala 2023 is in honour of the late Karl Lagerfeld and it seems as though the carpet has been altered to fit the theme.
This year, the carpet is looking a little less red than usual. In fact the red carpet is white with abstract red and blue stripes and fans are calling it the Colgate carpet (and we can kind of see why). Apparently the chandelier is made from recycled water bottles (we love a sustainable Queen).
La La Anthony on the Met Gala 2023 red carpet
Ahead of the Met Gala La La revealed she was super excited to honour Lagerfeld tonight, and is serving serious Chanel vibes on the Met Gala red carpet.
Chloe Fineman (Babylon star) is giving us serious Barbiecore vibes, complete with a glitzy kitten bag, ready for her co-hosting duties.
Anna Wintour arrives at the Met Gala 2023 red carpet
When you're hosting the biggest night in fashion, you dress to impress. Wintour gave us the first glimpse of her outfit. Waving to the crowd like the Queen she is, Wintour wears SS23 Chanel in honour of Lagerfeld.
Dua Lipa arrives on the Met Gala 2023 red carpet
Dua Lipa stunned on the red carpet in a Chanel FW92 Couture corseted gown with blue and white pipe detailing around the edges. Not forgetting the accessories. Dua Lipa wore anever seen before Tiffany necklace–valued at £8 million.
Penelope Cruz on the Met Gala 2023 red carpet
It's clear that Bridal will be a theme at this years red carpet. Penelope Cruz exudes glamour in a sheer Chanel gown with sequin detailing and full skirt.
Rita Ora arrives at the 2023 Met Gala
When it comes to red carpet dressing, Ora always turns it out. This year she opted for a stunning Prabal Gurung asymmetrical black gown with sheer detailing.
Nicole Kidman arrives on the red carpet
Nicole Kidman arrives on the Met Gala 2023 red carpet with her husband Keith Urban. Kidman opted for a frothy Chanel ethereal gown with flowing sheer train.
Emma Chamberlain in Miu Miu
We just adore Emma Chamberlain here at MC HQ and this blue Miu Miu outfit with jewelled midriff is another reason why.

Olivia Wilde
Olivia Wilde in custom Chloé.
The supermodels have arrived
Kate and Lila Moss just arrived at the Met Gala red carpet and it is everything. The pair have done the Karl Lagerfeld theme perfectly both wearing Fendi.
Lagerfeld shaped Fendi's history after spending over 50 years with the Fendi family. Tonight Kate Moss wears Fendi Spring/Summer '23 couture, specially designed for Moss. The silk lingerie dress is the only thing we want to wear for the rest of the year.
Lila Moss opted for a vintage FENDI Couture Fall/Winter 2018/9 gown made by Lagerfeld.
Kate Moss in Fendi
Naomi Campbell in Chanel
Naomi Campbell looks like a literal goddess in 2010 Chanel and it is the Barbiecore inspiration we have been waiting for.
Gisele Bündchen Met Gala 2023 red carpet
Gisele Bündchen wearing 2009 couture Chanel is all we needed to see today. She is everything.
Julia Garner, Halle Bailey & Daisy Edgar-Jones
Yes, yes and yes.
Doja Cat just arrived as a choupette
Doja Cat's outfits never disappoint, whether she's sitting front row or on tour, Doja knows how to serve a look. The Kiss Me More singer outdone herself tonight by arriving to the Met Gala 2023 red carpet as a cat...quite literally Doja Cat.
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens wears a custom Michael Kors Collection black-and-white chiffon draped gown. But it's the thigh split for me. The sequin flowers are hand-embroidered and each took 24 hours of work to perfect, it was worth it.
Emily Ratajkowski
Emily Ratajkowski in the most gorgeous Tory Burch gown, but we can't stop looking at her new fringe.
Sydney Sweeney
Sydney Sweeney just took my breath away in this Miu Miu number.
Halle Bailey
Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey looks angelic in this full length Gucci number.

Margot Robbie in Chanel, speechless.

None other that Thom Browne for Bella Ramsey.
Serena Williams
Serena Williams opts for a striking monochrome column gown.
Elle Fanning
Ever the ethereal poster-girl, Fanning looks incredible on the red carpet.
Kendall Jenner
A take on the tuxedo we never knew we needed. Kendall Jenner sported a black Marc Jacobs bodysuit, dramatic cape and platform boots for the occasion.
Kylie Jenner
In a sea of monochrome looks, we're really living for the moment of colour, courtesy of Kylie Jenner (although it doesn't exactly fit the theme).
Kim Kardashian
Following on from last year's controversy, when Kim wore and reportedly ruined Marilyn Monroe's iconic dress, Kim Kardashian chose a sculptural Schiaparelli pearl dress.
Jenna Ortega
Jenna Ortega kept things on brief in classic Chanel, but obviously with the unmistakable Wednesday twist.
Michelle Yeoh
A lesson in grace and decorum, Michelle Yeoh looks effortless in full Hollywood glam for the evening.
Florence Pugh in Valentino at the 2023 Met Gala
Never one to disappoint on the red carpet, Pugh chose a silk backless Valentino for this year's Met Gala.
The Valentino Haute Couture look was designed especially for Pugh by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli. It's the shaved head and headpiece that really makes it for me.
Anne Hathaway
Liz Hurley in the iconic black Versace pin dress has been etched in Fashion's collective memory—it was a moment. Now, Hathaway makes her own mark with an updated version for the 2023 Met Gala. We love!
Lily Collins
The Emily In Paris star went for full on monochrome glamour.
Mary J Blige
Mary J Blige chose Burberry for the evening.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas & Nick Jonas on the 2023 Met Gala red carpet
We just love this couple, who sported matching monochrome Valentino looks.
Pedro Pascal
Man of the moment, Pascal, in a striking red look. The Valentino look comes straight from the Valentino Fall/Winter 23/24 Black Tie collection. We've loving the shorts and oversized coat combo.
Viola Davis
Yes! Bring on the colour. Davis chose a candy pink Valentino gown for this year's red carpet.
Paris Hilton makes her Met Gala debut
I know, we can't believe this is Paris Hilton's first time on the Met Gala red carpet either. But wow did she deliver. Wearing a black leather and sequined Marc Jacobs gown, the chunky sandals and flower choker are bringing back the nineties (and we're here for it).
The real question is how did she get her smoky eyeliner so perfect and when is too soon to recreate this look?
Madelyn Cline
Madelyn Cline makes her Met Gala debut wearing a fringed gown by Stella McCartney.

Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington wears a custom Michael Kors lace two-piece on the Met Gala red carpet.
Rihanna and ASAP Rocky
Rihanna and ASAP Rocky were the last to walk the Met Gala red carpet this year, and boy, did they close the event in style. Rihanna sported a Valentino Haute Couture gown white gown with an exaggerated train and white floral cape especially designed for her by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli. While her beau opted for a Gucci look featuring jeans and a red plaid kilt. (Perhaps a nod to the returning dress over jeans trend!)
Of course, never one to disappoint, Rihanna's outfit also transformed on the red carpet. The star removed her cape to reveal a figure-hugging dress and her growing baby bump underneath.
There's no denying, Rihanna is the moment.
