In the most bizarre twist in the Menendez brothers’ case so far, reality TV producers are apparently eyeing up both Lyle and Erik Menendez for Dancing with the Stars.
It kinda makes sense, because convicted fraudster Anna Delvey recently appeared on the show, shimmying around the dance floor with a bejewelled ankle monitor front and centre.
The Menendez brothers’ crimes are a little more serious, though, with the pair convicted of first-degree murder in 1996 for killing their parents in 1989.
They’re currently serving out a life sentence in prison, but there are talks of a retrial after Ryan Murphy’s Netflix show Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. If the brothers do get released, they could Cha-Cha their way onto the dance floor and create a “rating bonanza”.
“If and when the Menendez brothers find freedom, the next stage for them is to return to real life and they will be looking to make money,” a source told Daily Mail.
“Dancing with the Stars bosses have already discussed the possibility of signing them up on future seasons. The show chases stunt casting like this and would absolutely look into getting them on board if they ever leave prison,” the insider added.
“The story would be captivating, along with talk of redemption on the show.”
However, one of the professional dancers, Artem Chigvintesv was apparently cut from the show shortly before being arrested for domestic abuse. While he denies all allegations against him, some sources believe having the Menendez brothers on the show would be a “double standard”.
“Bosses are in no rush to ever welcome Artem back, but they would consider the Menendez brothers for a ratings bonanza. Talk about a double standard,” the insider claimed.
It would be a wild move to cast the Menendez brothers on such a sparkly show, but I’m pretty sure it would work out well for the network. There would be sooooo much publicity. These producers know what they’re doing!
