Our minds were blown after a cheeky work lunch in Maccies. As we were testing out the new McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac, one of our colleagues was caught struggling when dipping into his ketchup pot.
If you didn’t already know, McDonald’s has a self-pump station where you can fill a paper pot with ketchup rather than opting for the plastic dips.

The sachets are notorious for being difficult to open and often result in people viciously trying to bite the packet open.
However, when one of our colleagues were caught trying to awkwardly dip his burger into the tiny ketchup pot, one worker in our office shared a hack we weren’t aware of.
Turns out, we’ve been using the ketchup paper pots all wrong.
She reached for the paper pot and opened it up to reveal a hidden trick to help when it comes to dipping your chips.
When you pull on the paper edges at the top of the pot it opens up into a flat circle. Not only does this make it more convenient for dipping larger food items like nuggets - or in Michael’s case, burgers, it also helps you get way more sauce.
We were in awe of the simple trick and when we went back to the office to share the genius hack, it turns out many were also unaware you could do this with the paper pots.
However, when we shared the trick on the Manchester Evening News TikTok account, one user pointed out we were ”at least 20 years behind everyone else” and that it’s an “old school trick.”
Perhaps it's so old school that it's time people were reminded?
