‘The Matrix’ directors Lilly and Lana Wachowski auctioning movie props in fund-raiser for trans youth

This is not a simulation — props from “The Matrix” and other movies are being auctioned off by the Wachowski sisters.

The directing duo is making items from “Jupiter Ascending,” “Cloud Atlas” and multiple “Matrix” films available for purchase through the auction, with proceeds going to different organizations that support transgender youth, Lilly Wachowski announced.

“Me and Lana have been doing some spring cleaning at our Raiders of the Lost Ark warehouse and have happily decided to pass on some of the best treasures we’ve been collecting over the years!!” she tweeted over the weekend. “No ark of the covenants but some pretty major and magical artifacts!”

The items are now listed on the Potter & Potter Auctions website, with the auction beginning on May 12.

Wachowski said the proceeds will go directly to the Protect & Defend Trans Youth Fund, which pop star Ariana Grande created in March. The fund benefits 17 different organizations throughout the U.S.

“Right now, there are hundreds of bills pending in state legislatures across the United States that target trans youth and aim to curb their rights,” Grande wrote on the fund’s website. “The impact of fighting these anti-trans bills and policies is felt all year by trans people, their families and loved ones.”

Grande said she will match all donations to the fund up to $1.5 million. It has raised more than $786,000.

Lilly Wachowski, 54, and Lana Wachowski, 56, who are both trans women, are the writers and directors of the first three “Matrix” movies. They also directed and worked as writers on “Cloud Atlas” and “Jupiter Ascending.”

Lana Wachowski directed last year’s “The Matrix Resurrections,” which is the fourth movie in the science-fiction series, and co-wrote the film with David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon.
