The Masked Singer unveils Jacket Potato as Jon Bon Jovi legend ahead of final

The Masked Singer revealed Richie Sambora underneath Jacket Potato as the semi-finals came to a close on Saturday evening with a double elimination.

Jellyfish, Phoenix, Rhino, Jacket Potato and Fawn took to the stage in the semi-final with host Joel Dommett once again hosting the bonkers ITV singing competition.

The judging panel of Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan tried to guess each character’s identities, accompanied by guest panellist Peter Crouch.

But it all came down to a double elimination in the semi-final, as two contenders were unmasked at the end of the show, leaving three to compete in the final.

As the fourth series winds to an end and each of the 12 mystery celebrities are finally unmasked from under their elaborate costumes, Jacket Potato was finally unveiled as Richie Sambora.

Richie said: "It's a wild reality when you do this show.”

Richie’s clues, of course, pointed to his iconic career in music, such as a ‘billions’ anagram referencing his songs with Bon Jovi hitting over a billion streams.

There were also nods to the groups hit songs, including You Give Love A Bad Name and Livin’ On A Prayer.

It comes after a double elimination last weekend, which saw This Country star Daisy May Cooper unmasked as Otter on the ITV show when she landed at the bottom of the contestants.

The co-creator and star of BBC Three drama was unveiled by fellow comic Mo Gilligan prior to the unmasking.

"It's the best job I've ever done but near the end I was absolutely exhausted. I was gutted to leave because I really fancied the Phoenix – so fit," joked Daisy May Cooper after her unveiling.

The dramatic double elimination also saw Knitting as the first contestant to be eliminated, with their identity being confirmed as Steps singer Claire Richards.

"I thought you were going to get me from day one, I was so chuffed when you didn't," she said. "I am a massive, massive fan of this show, I feel like a fan who has won a competition."

She added: "My son might be a little mortified but I hope they are surprised and happy."

Earlier in The Masked Singer’s 2023 run, celebrities unveiled have included Chris Kamara, Lulu and Martin, and Shirlie Kemp as the famous faces behind Ghost, Piece of Cake, and Cat & Mouse respectively.

In a more recent episode, it was revealed that Snooker legend Stephen Hendry had been hiding behind the Rubbish costume and a pregnant Katherine Ryan was masquerading as Essex-talking Pigeon.

The Masked Singer airs Saturdays on ITV at 7pm.
