Many Masked Singer fans are sure they now know who is behind the Knitting mask after 'accidentally exposing their own identity' on social media. Viewers of the popular ITV show say they are convinced they can name who the celebrity singing behind the ball of yarn costume is as a new Instagram Story has added to their speculations and theories.
Numerous fans believe the star is Claire Richards, from the British pop band Steps, with the Instagram post and several given clues on the programme adding up for them. So far, clues to the singer's identity on the show have included a magpie, the number 26 and references to crafting.
It is exactly this last clue that has gotten fans convinced as the Steps singer uploaded a video over the weekend of a table full of crafting items - including glue and containers full of beads and other items. The caption read: "Happy Saturday. This is where I'll be for the foreseeable!"

The singer shared the clip on Saturday (Jan 7) - shortly before the latest instalment of the show began. During the episode, Knitting performed No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) and then Memory in the sing-off, as reported by ChronicleLive, with many fans adamant Knitting's singing voice matches that of Clare's.
Other clues that have been shared on the show including a riddle that fans have linked to their song 5,6,7,8. As well as mention of a magpie - which some say is a reference to Step's One For Sorrow single.
A more recent clue, in which the character said they wanted to 'leave the light on', further fuelled the theory - with fans suspecting it's a reference to song Scared of the Dark.
Clare is best known for being in the pop group Steps. She was also a contestant on the second series of Popstar to Operastar before being voted off in the semi finals. Other members of the pop band are Lee Latchford-Evans, Claire Richards, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer and Ian "H" Watkins.
