Former Newcastle United forward Les Ferdinand still fondly remembers the Magpies famous 5-0 win over Manchester United in October 1996.
Newcastle had boasted a 12 point lead over Man United (having played a game more) at the summit of the Premier League in January 1995. The Red Devils staged a sensational turnaround to clinch the title by four points and subsequently condemned Newcastle to a 4-0 defeat in the Charity Shield at the start of the following season.
The Magpies were applauded off the pitch despite the humiliation inflicted on them. Ferdinand has recalled Kevin Keegan's words of wisdom before one of Newcastle's most extraordinary victories.
