It's not every day you scroll through an online property portal looking for a new home or just being nosey and come across a home for sale from £27k unless it's an auction wreck, but how many times have you seen a home made from an old shipping container listed?
It might not be the first type of structure that springs to mind as a place to call home, or a base for a business, a smelly, rusty box of steel that has travelled all over the world carrying all kinds of goods and products. But a container is definitely an option that could be the most awesome upcycling project ever.
But converting a shipping container into an abode or business premises is not for DIY enthusiasts, it needs a specialist because it is more than just a session of giant Lego - it is a challenge. But the versatility of the huge boxes of steel mean that they can become homes, business, hotels and even prisons.
