The Malones thank Gogglebox fans for support after tragic family news

The Malones have been inundated with support from Gogglebox fans after they broke the news that one of their beloved dogs had died.

The northern family are part of the furniture on the smash hit Channel 4 show, having established themselves as from favourites with viewers from the minute they started giving their TV opinions from the sofa.

Julie and Tom's son Tom Malone Jr shocked fans with his decision to quit Gogglebox last year, but the rest of the family have stayed very part of the equation, being seen on screen in the new series which started a few weeks away.

As well as the family themselves being regulars on the show, viewers have come to expect their dogs to make an appearance too, but now, after the sad death of her sister Izzey last year, their pet Lucy has also passed away.

Tom and Julie broke the sad news on the family's Instagram account last week, with them sharing a picture of Tom and Lucy and writing: "Today we said goodbye to our beloved Lucy ,she fought right to the end to stay with us .Now reunited with her sister Izzey. There are no words to describe how much you meant to us .Rest In Peace Sweetheart ,you will always be in our hearts."

They were swiftly inundated with condolences and well wishes from friends and followers, including Gogglebox co-stars Jenny and Lee, who wrote: "Heartbreaking for you all much love Jenny and Lee." Dave and Shirley were also quick to react, writing: "Sorry to hear that Tom."

After they'd been flooded with support, Julie then shared a picture of her with Lucy, writing next to it: "Heartfelt thanks for all your kind comments ,they mean a lot. We were so privileged to have Lucy and her sister Izzy. The house just doesn't seem the same."
