Wonder Oven: What You Need to Know
Unlike the Always Pan or the Perfect Pot, the Wonder Oven is a fully standalone offering from Our Place. You could reheat leftovers like chicken or steak by popping them on the tray and sliding it in after a quick pre-heat. However, you can also cook a broad range of food with six modes: air fry, bake, roast, toast, broil, and reheat.
Like the pan or pot that can reduce the need for several of each, the Wonder Oven could clear up some counter space since it aims to replace an air-fryer and toaster oven. It’s made from stainless steel and weighs in at just 11.6 pounds. More importantly, though, it’s just shy of 12 inches tall, 11.5 inches wide, and 10.6 inches deep. So whether you have a custom kitchen or live in an apartment, you’ll likely have room for this appliance. It also comes in three shades: Blue Salt, Char, or Steam.
Our Place is going a simple route with three knobs that let you control the mode and cooking time. The secret sauce of the Wonder Oven is “Steam Infusion” technology, which is on top of other heating methods typically found in a countertop oven. They opted for this to ensure a solid cooking result that can leave the outside crispy and keep the insides juicy and moist. It’s also used in all modes to speed up the cooking process. It’s downright simple, as you’ll add water to the spout on the top. Unlike other cooking methods that heat from the top or bottom, this uses a 360-route for an even cook.
Our Place says it can pre-heat up to 75% faster and cook up to 30% faster than traditional ovens. We’ll need to put that to the test, but it seems that the steam route for heat is speeding things up.
While this is a compact appliance, you can use the dual racks inside to cook multiple things simultaneously—for instance, salmon or steak on the top with a few vegetables on the bottom. Our Place includes a wire rack, bake pan, air fryer basket, and a crumb tray along with the Wonder Oven itself.
We’ll be going hands-on in the coming weeks with the Wonder Oven, but as a 6-in-1 countertop appliance, it certainly makes a splash with a $195 price.
