The Locale release CCTV image of sneak thief who nicked staff valuables during late-night raid

CCTV images of a thief who stole staff valuables from a city centre bar during a late-night break-in on Friday have been shared online by its furious owners.

Bosses at The Locale in Glasgow say the hooded culprit broke into the bar via the fire escape before swiping several bags and jackets at around 11.20pm.

The owners shared a picture of the thief on Facebook in a bid to identify them.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, bosses said: “On Friday night at 11.20pm a hooded man came into the bar via the fire escape and made off with several bags and jackets which had a laptop, AirPods, passports and cash inside.

“Unfortunately as the bar was full and we were extremely busy we did not realise the robbery had taken place until 1am and by that time they were long gone.

“Some jackets were ditched in the lane behind the bar.”

General manager Max Conor said there would be a “handsome” reward for anyone that helped the team to retrieve their items.

"Handsome reward for anyone who can give us any information leading to the return of the stolen goods," he said.

One of the stolen laptops was traced to a location in Maryhill while Eva’s Airpods’ were tracked to Dumbarton Road.

“We would ask anyone reading this to please be on the look out for a grey 15 inch MacBook Pro for sale it has an Arabic keyboard so should hopefully be easy to spot.

“If anyone sees these items for sale online or elsewhere please contact the bar 01412219036.”

Police Scotland are investigating the theft.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.45am on Saturday, 5 March, police received a report of a theft from a premises in the North Street area of Glasgow. Enquiries are still ongoing.”
