DPD is one of the country's biggest courier services, delivering to thousands of Irish homes every week but they actually have over 600 pickup points where busy online shoppers can send their orders for later collection.
DPD says: "Save yourself time by using one of DPD Ireland Pickup Points. When you book to send your parcel via the DPD Pickup network, you just take your parcel to your local DPD Pickup Point – usually your local convenience store or garage – and hand it over for the DPD driver to collect later.
"DPD’s Pickup Points offer great flexibility – they’re open early until late seven days a week so you can drop off your parcel on your way to or from work, or at the weekend. There are almost 600 Pickup Points throughout Ireland – look out for the DPD Pickup sticker in the window or check out their locations above."
Pickup points include Centra, SPAR, Applegreen, MACE, Inver and other outlets across the country.
IKEA is delighted with the service as their customers can order in a way that suits them, even when they are not at home and don't want a delivery lying on the doorstep.
An IKEA spokesperson said “At IKEA we’re on a journey to become more accessible, affordable and sustainable. As part of this we’ve looked into the many different ways to make shopping with us more convenient.
"In Ireland, we’ve partnered with delivery suppliers such as DPD, where customers are able to choose their most convenient pick-up point to collect their products.
"An example of this is the SPAR convenience store, which is a collection point for DPD, not IKEA directly. We will continue to test and try new ways of bringing IKEA even closer to our customers, creating an easy buying and shopping experience with us.”
The delivery hack is sure to prove even more popular with more and more people finding out about it on Instagram and due various brands.
