The LED Mouse Duo transforms your Switch 2 Joy-Con into a fully-fledged gaming mouse, but not for US fans

I've tested a long list of Nintendo Switch 2 accessories as the Nintendo nerd of the GamesRadar+ hardware team, but none quite as bizarre-looking as the iMP LED Mouse Duo.

Instead of using the provided rails that come packaged with every new handheld, this new Nintendo Switch 2 accessory goes one step further in transforming the Switch 2 Joy-Con into an everyday gaming mouse. By slipping each Joy-Con into its plastic shell, the iMP accessory adds a curved palm rest to each side of the controller to allow for a more typical mouse look and more precise and swift controls, and there's even some lighting, too. I mean, would it really be a gaming mouse without it?

The LED Mouse Duo is also equipped with Teflon pads to allow for a smoother and more precise control of the Joy-Con in mouse mode. Meanwhile, there are grips on either accessory to provide "full 3D control" of your movements when playing Switch 2 games like Cyberpunk 2077 and the upcoming Metroid Prime: Beyond.

The ambient LED multimode lighting is located on either edge of each accessory to give it that more gamer-fied look, and provide seven different static color modes and five dynamic themes. These are powered not by the Joy-Con, but by two AA batteries, which need to be placed in either controller.

The official press release states that this LED Mouse Duo " effortlessly" replicates a gaming mouse, and I can somewhat see the vision. When you pop either left or right Switch 2 Joy-Con on its side to automatically enable the new mouse mechanics, it doesn't ever give off the true sensation like you're using one of the best gaming mice, so I can foresee the advantages of having an accessory like this in my setup, even if it over-complicates the setup process.

One of the coolest factors of the handheld's new mouse controls is that it's just as quick to enable them as it is to switch back to the basic dual-wielding Joy-Con position. Adding a new contraption like this LED Mouse Duo adds an extra fiddly step to the process, which feels a little redundant. More so, when you consider the fact that you're existing gaming mouse is very likely a viable and compatible alternative - one that doesn't cost an extra £19.99, too.

If you'd rather stick with your existing mouse or your Joy-Con, the Rocket Dock LED Charger might appeal to you more instead. Available from £9.02 at Amazon, and unveiled alongside the LED Mouse Duo, the dock can charge up to four Switch 2 Joy-Con simultaneously. The compact dock is also decked out with LED charging status indicators and some ambient LED lighting of its own.

Both the iMP LED Mouse Duo and the Rockey Dock LED Charger for the Nintendo Switch 2 are available today for £19.99 and £14.99 respectively (though the latter is cheaper right now at Amazon) at select UK retailers.

If you're based in the US, you'll have to miss out for now, but check out our upcoming Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals, where plenty of equally bizarre accessories are bound to appear in the weeks to come.
