The latest Nintendo Switch 2 update is good for eShop browsers, potentially horrible for third-party dock owners

  • The latest Switch 2 firmware update is live
  • It brings helpful changes, like disabling autoplay on eShop videos and more
  • However, it seems to have removed compatibility for third-party Switch 2 docks

Update (11/17/2025): Nintendo has responded to TechRadar Gaming's request for comment, stating the following: "Nintendo Switch 2 outputs audiovisuals once it detects that it is docked into a Nintendo Switch 2 Dock. Nintendo Switch does the same, outputting audiovisuals once it detects that it is docked into a Nintendo Switch Dock. Nintendo does not have any intention to hinder or invalidate legal third-party dock compatibility."
