The latest COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics for Thursday, July 28.

New South Wales

The state has recorded 34 new deaths in the past day.

Currently, 2,282 people are in hospital with COVID-19, and 65 are in intensive care.

There have been 15,704 new cases of COVID-19.

Victoria

Thirty-seven people have died with COVID-19 in Victoria in the past 24 hours.

There are 852 people with the virus in hospital and 33 are in intensive care.

The state has recorded 12,154 new cases.

Tasmania

There are 176 people in hospital with COVID-19 in the state, with four people in intensive care.

Four new deaths have been reported.

A further 1,175 new cases were recorded in the state in the past day.

Northern Territory

There have been 454 new cases of COVID-19 in the NT in the past day.

Currently, there are 61 people in hospital with COVID-19, and zero patients in intensive care.

No new deaths have been reported.

Queensland

The state reported 27 new deaths in the latest reporting period.

There are 955 people in hospital with COVID-19, with 32 patients in intensive care.

There were 7,364 new cases reported in the state.

ACT

There are 149 patients with COVID-19 in hospital in the ACT, with two in ICU and zero being ventilated.

One new death was reported, and there were 1,000 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.

South Australia

The state has reported 17 COVID-related deaths in the past day.

There are 339 people in hospital in the state, and 11 in intensive care.

There were 3,957 new cases recorded.

Western Australia

Five people have died with COVID-19 in the state in the latest reporting period.

There are 418 patients in hospital with the virus, and 16 in intensive care.

The state recorded 4,961 new cases.
