The latest COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics today — Wednesday, September 7.

ACT

Another 138 cases were reported in the territory with just one of those in ICU and one person on a ventilator.

No deaths were recorded.

Northern Territory 

Another 87 COVID cases have been recorded in the territory.

There are 15 people in hospital, none are in ICU.

There were no more deaths from the virus.

Queensland 

There are 240 people in hospital and eight in ICU.

There were 1,776  new cases recorded.

Sadly 24 people lost their lives overnight. 

Tasmania  

There are 24 patients in hospital with the virus, one of those is in ICU.

There were 166 new cases reported.

There were no more deaths from the virus.

Victoria

There have been another 11 COVID-19 deaths.

There are 222 cases in hospital, with 18 of those in intensive care and 3 requiring ventilation. 

There were 2,237 new cases today. 

NSW

The state has recorded 21 more COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 1,581 cases in hospital, 37 of those in intensive care. 

There were 3,666 new cases announced today.

South Australia

The state has recorded four more COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 90 cases in hospital, and eight of those are in intensive care. 

There were 3,616 cases announced today. 

Western Australia

Western Australia has reported two deaths – a man in his 70s, and a man in his 80s.

These date back to July 11, the Department of Health said. 

There are 199 cases in hospital, seven in intensive care. 

There were 1,335 cases announced today. 

Mutations in the COVID-19 virus continue to pose a risk.
