The latest COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics today — Sunday, May 22.

VIC:

There have been another 10 COVID-19 deaths in Victoria.

There are 541 cases in the state's hospitals, with 29 of those in intensive care and eight requiring ventilation.

There were 9,307 new cases today. 

NSW:

New South Wales has recorded seven more COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 1,165 cases in hospital, with 36 of those in intensive care. 

There were 8,523 new cases announced today.

ACT:

The Australian Capital Territory has reported no new deaths and 758 new cases of COVID-19.

There are 92 people in hospital with the virus, including four in intensive care and two being ventilated.

TAS:

Tasmania has recorded one new death from COVID-19, and 782 new cases.

There are 47 people in hospital with the virus, including 25 patients being treated specifically for COVID-19 symptoms. One person is in intensive care.

QLD:

Queensland has recorded no new deaths and 4,504 new cases of COVID-19.

There are 432 people in hospital with the virus, including 17 people in intensive care.

NT: 

The Northern Territory has recorded no new deaths and 183 new cases of COVID-19.

There are 17 people in NT hospitals with the virus. Five patients are being ventilated and two are in intensive care.

SA: 

Two people have died with COVID in South Australia and eight remain in intensive care.

The state has recorded 3,053 new cases.

There are 224 people hospitalised with the virus in total.

WA: 

Western Australia has recorded 11,557 new COVID cases, putting the number of known active cases in the state at just over 90,000.

More than 7,000 of yesterday's cases were detected via rapid antigen tests, with the rest identified by PCR testing.

Eleven people are in intensive care with the virus and 326 are hospitalised in total.
