The latest COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics today — Sunday, August 21.

Victoria

There have been another 18 COVID-19 deaths in Victoria.

There are 438 cases in hospital, with 29 of those in intensive care and 12 requiring ventilation.

There were 2,437 new cases today. 

NSW

The state has recorded 16 more COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 1,925 cases in hospital, including 52 of those in intensive care. 

There were 4,335 new cases announced today.

ACT

The ACT hasn't recorded any new COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 120 cases in hospital, including three people in intensive care and one person requiring ventilation.

There were 186 new cases announced today.

Tasmania

Tasmania has reported one new COVID-19 death.

There are 56 cases in hospital in the state, including three people in intensive care.

There were 213 new cases announced today.

Queensland

Queensland doesn't report COVID-19 deaths on Sundays or Mondays. They will be reported on Tuesday.

The state currently has 377 cases in hospital, including 13 people in intensive care.

There were 1,166 new cases announced today.

South Australia

South Australia has reported one more death from COVID-19.

The state currently has 259 cases in hospital, including eight people in intensive care and two being ventilated.

There were 664 new cases announced today.

Western Australia

Western Australia has reported one more death from COVID-19.

The state currently has 235 cases in hospital, including four people in intensive care.

There were 1,147 new cases announced today.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory hasn't reported any new COVID-19 deaths.

There are currently 23 cases in hospital, and no patients in intensive care.

There were 72 new cases announced today.
