The latest COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics today — Monday, September 5.

Victoria

There have been another four COVID-19 deaths in Victoria.

There are 266 cases in hospital, with 14 of those in intensive care, four of whom are requiring ventilation.

There were 1,709 new cases today. 

NSW

The state has recorded two more COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 1,706 cases in hospital, with 46 of those in intensive care. 

There were 2,341 new cases announced today.

Tasmania

Tasmania hasn't recorded any more COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 30 cases in hospital in the state, including one person in intensive care. 

There were 101 new cases announced today.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory hasn't recorded any more COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 19 cases in hospital, but no patients in intensive care. 

There were 171 new cases announced today.

Mutations in the COVID-19 virus continue to pose a risk.

Queensland

Queensland has reported two more deaths from COVID-19. 

There are 279 cases in hospital in the state, including eight people in intensive care. 

There were 1,008 new cases announced today.

ACT

The ACT has not reported any new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 93 cases in hospital in the territory, including one person in intensive care and one requiring ventilation. 

There were 124 new cases announced today.

Western Australia

Western Australia has reported two new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 201 cases in hospital in the state, including five people in intensive care. 

There were 758 new cases announced today.

South Australia

South Australia has reported one new COVID-19 death.

There are 100 cases in hospital in the state, including nine people in intensive care. 

There were 406 new cases announced today.
