The latest COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics for Friday, July 29.

New South Wales

The state has recorded 22 new deaths in the latest reporting period.

There are 2,257 people in hospital with COVID-19, and 67 people in intensive care.

There have been 14,927 positive tests reported.

Victoria

The state has reported a high number of COVID-19  deaths on Friday because of data feed issues this month.

This has meant 105 additional deaths have been reported on top of Friday's two new deaths, taking the total tally for Friday to 107.

There are 813 people in hospital, 32 in intensive care, and 10 being ventilated.

There were 10,989 new cases.

Queensland

Queensland has recorded 17 deaths and 9,420 cases of COVID-19.

The number of Queenslanders in hospital with COVID-19 has fallen below 1,000 for the second consecutive day.

There are 906 patients being treated in the state’s public and private hospitals, down from 955 on Thursday.

There are 30 people being managed in intensive care.

South Australia

Seven deaths of people with COVID-19 have been reported in South Australia, all in their 80s and 90s.

There are 341 people in hospital.

Another 3,148 cases were reported and there are 24,321 active cases.

Australian Capital Territory

There are 147 people in hospital with COVID-19, including one in ICU, as the territory records 1,007 new cases.

No deaths were reported.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory has recorded 380 new cases of COVID-19.

There are 58 people in hospital with the virus, none of whom are in ICU.

Western Australia

Western Australia has recorded three deaths dating back to May 8: a woman in her 80s, a woman in her 70s, and a woman in her 60s.

There are 424 people in hospital with the virus, including 17 in ICU, and 4,423 new cases.
