Coronavirus infection rates have gone up in all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, according to the latest data. Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester.
The borough recorded a rate of 756.4 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending March 18, according to the latest data from the UK Health Security Agency. The lowest infection rate is in Rochdale, where the rate is 375.6 cases per 100,000 people.
In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 523.6 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 820.0 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 14,847 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on March 18. The Greater Manchester weekly total has increased by 4,860 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was up 49 per cent in the last week.
The infection rate is lower than the national average in all ten local authorities in Greater Manchester.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on March 13, a total of 411 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 76 more than the week before, a rise of 23 per cent. On Tuesday March 15, there were ten Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is one fewer than a week earlier.

Deaths
In the week ending March 18, a total of 18 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is one more than the week before. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 931,435 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There have been 8,831 deaths.
Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs
Salford saw a total of 1,325 cases in the week ending March 18, which is 420 more than the previous week. That is a rise of 46 per cent. In Salford, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 504.4 cases per 100,000 people.
There were 2225 positive tests over the last week in Stockport , which is 761 more than in the previous week. The week-on-week trend in Stockport is up by 52 per cent and the latest infection rate is 756.3 cases per 100,000 people.
In Trafford , there were 1,797 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 18, which is 534 more than the previous seven days. Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Trafford is up slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is up by 42 per cent.
Rochdale , which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 840 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 18, which is 339 more than the previous seven days. The coronavirus infection rate in Rochdale is now 375.6 cases per 100,000 people and is up by 68 per cent week-on-week.
In Bury , the latest infection rate is 543.2 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone up by 39 per cent. A total of 1,036 people tested positive for Covid in Bury over the seven days ending on March 18, which is 291 more than the week before.
In Oldham , the number of cases is up by 55 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 383.0 cases per 100,000 population. There were 910 positive Covid-19 tests in Oldham in the week ending March 18, which was 324 more than the previous seven days.
The trend is also up in city borough of Manchester , where there were 2,842 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 18, which is 942 more than the previous seven days. That is up by 50 per cent compared to the previous week. The latest infection rate in Manchester is 511.4 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
There was a rise of 44 per cent in cases in Wigan over the week ending March 18, and the infection rate is now 471.1 cases per 100,000 population. Wigan recorded 1,558 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 479 more than the previous week.
The trend is up in Bolton where the latest infection rate is 382.7 cases per 100,000 people. There were 1103 cases recorded in Bolton, which is 303 more than the previous week - a rise of 38 per cent.
Tameside recorded 1,211 coronavirus cases, which is 467 more than in the previous seven days. The latest infection rate in Tameside is 533.2 cases per 100,000 people and that is up 63 per cent week-on-week.
