The Last Leg star Adam Hills compares covering rugby league on Channel 4 to having sex

Adam Hills is relishing the return of the Super League and has even likened his Channel 4 presenting gig to having sex.

Hills, 52, has presented BAFTA-nominated show The Last Leg since 2012 but landed his dream gig last year when rugby league returned to terrestrial TV.

The Australian is set to front the coverage again this year, with Hull KR vs Wigan Warriors being broadcast on Channel 4 on Saturday afternoon.

And risking the wrath of wife Ali, Hills joked: "Covering Super League for us is a bit like having sex. Last year we did it for the first time, we didn’t really know what we were doing but we had fun. This year hopefully we will get a bit better at it!"

Hills, who was born without a right foot, is a lifelong rugby league fan and played for Australia in the inaugural Physical Disability World Cup in 2021, which ran alongside the able-bodied competition.

Despite his success on The Last Leg alongside Alex Brooker and Josh Widdicombe, Hills admitted he was surprised at how well Channel 4's Super League coverage was received.

“It was way better than I expected and I’m hoping now that the honeymoon is over and the marriage goes back to reality we can keep that spark alive," he told League Express.

“Seriously, though I’d love to see Super League on Channel 4 more regularly on an appointment viewing at the same time every week so people know to look out for it."

Hills is set for a busy opening weekend as he will also be fronting coverage of 2022 Super League champions St Helens in the Club World Challenge.

They take on the Penrith Panthers in Australia with kick-off at 7am UK time on Saturday, before the domestic encounter gets underway at 1pm.

Sky Sports will also continue to screen live matches over the course of the 2023 season. Last season's defeated finalists Leeds Rhinos kick off the opening round of fixtures on Thursday night when they travel to Warrington Wolves.
