The Last Dinner Party cancel entire European tour after 'pushing themselves past breaking point'

Rock band The Last Dinner Party has been forced to cancel most of their European tour after “pushing themselves past breaking point”.

The band told its followers on Instagram that it has been forced to cancel its November headline shows in cities such as Vienna, Zurich and Luxembourg and will instead finish their tour in Prague.

The news comes after the Brit-winning band cancelled shows in Lincoln and Cardiff before calling off their headline tour dates in Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol and Southampton “following medical advice”.

The band apologised to fans, explaining that they are “working with our team to make sure we only book tours that we are capable of fulfilling at the highest potential”.

They added: “We never want to find ourselves in this situation again”.

In an Instagram story, the band wrote: “We are all still buzzing with joy and gratitude from the end of the UK/Eire tour.

“As we came to the end of the UK/Ireland tour, we put some time aside to discuss how to approach the upcoming European tour.

“The burnout we’re experiencing - emotionally, mentally, and physically - is something we’re taking very seriously.

“After much consideration, we have come to the difficult decision to finish the tour with the last show in Prague.

“This means that we are sadly cancelling our November headline shows in Vienna, Zurich, Parma, Luxembourg and Tilburg.”

The group added that they wanted to give fans as much time as possible to adjust their plans.

The post continued: “We sincerely apologise to our fans who were looking forward to seeing us, and we are truly saddened to not be seeing you this time.

“Refunds will be issued by your point of purchase to the original method of payment.

“This year has been incredible for us but undeniably exhausting and we have found that we need to take responsibility over the amount of shows that we can do.

“Pushing ourselves past breaking point is not a fair or wise decision for anyone.

“We hope that you can understand that our reason for cancelling these shows is to protect our well-being and give the very best performances you all deserve.”

The latest cancellations came after the band said they were “appalled and disappointed” after a Lincoln venue enforced a security policy that left fans feeling “uncomfortable and disrespected”, with audience members online suggesting male fans faced prejudice.

A statement posted on social media earlier this month said the band were not aware of the security policies at the show and “they would not have been implemented had we been made aware of them in advance”.

The Engine Shed, dubbed Lincolnshire’s largest live music facility, has since apologised in a statement on X, confirming it had also launched an investigation into the incident.

It said security policy was changed in response to “incidents” at a previous The Last Dinner Party gig, but that it resulted in the “unacceptable treatment of some guests” during entry.

The venue acknowledged that security procedure “fell far short of our venue entry policy, which requires all attendees to be treated equally and be subject to the same entry requirements”.

The Last Dinner Party are an all-female indie outfit comprising lead singer Abigail Morris, guitarist Emily Roberts, Lizzie Mayland on rhythm, bassist Georgia Davies, and Aurora Nishevci on keyboard.
