The Killers star Brandon Flowers is considering quitting music because he is "really going through it right now".
The 45-year-old frontman has admitted he doesn't know "how much longer" he can continue in the industry, confessing he's compared his life to that of his father and he's convinced his dad is much "happier" even though he has a lot less money.
He told The Times newspaper: "My dad goes to yard sales, where he buys frames to take home and paint. He’s never had any money in his life and he’s happier than I am.
"I’m really going through it right now: how much longer do I want to do this, what does it mean, why am I doing it anyway?
"Whenever I finish a tour, without fail I get sick."
However, every time he considers walking away from his career, he takes inspiration from Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger, who is still enjoying success at the age of 83.
Brandon added: "I think of Mick Jagger and ask myself: what keeps him getting up on that stage? I guess it’s because there are powerful moments in a concert. How could I not want to do that".
In the interview, Brandon also opened up about growing up in Las Vegas - admitting he never saw himself as a performer and instead wanted a steady job at one of the city's biggest casino resorts.
He said: "I aspired to be a valet. I saw my cousins and uncles living off tips, supporting their entire families with those jobs, and my end goal was to work at a nice place like the Bellagio.
"My first job on the Strip was at Spago in Caesars Palace, bussing tables. I worked at a French brasserie, I worked at a golf course. I loved the service industry. I’m still in it, actually."
It comes after Brand previously admitted he can get frustrated with fame when he's posing for selfies with fans as some of them can be "aggressive and a little bit greedy" when taking pictures with him.
According to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column, Brandon said: "Some people are a little bit aggressive and a little bit greedy.
"They’re not happy with how their picture looks. Now, I’m taking the third and fourth picture with people because they’re not happy with their selfie.
"I know I sound like I’m being curmudgeonly."
