The junction voted the absolute worst on the M6

Motorists have voted junction 32 on the M6 as the worst junction of the motorway in Lancashire.

Readers of LancsLive were asked to have their say on which junction they hated the most on the stretch of the motorway through the region. And junction 32 on the northbound side came up top by some margin.

Around 37 per cent of those who answered said the junction for Blackpool, Fleetwood (M55) and Preston (A6) was the worst. This was followed by junction 30 on the southbound side for Manchester, Bolton (M61), Leeds (M62) and Blackburn (M65) with 16 per cent of the vote.

Junction 31 on the northbound side for Preston, Blackburn and Clitheroe (M65) came in third with 11 per cent. The reasons quoted for naming junction 32 north the absolute worst across the Lancashire section of the M6 were many, but a lot of them focused on a short slip road and lots of traffic.

One person said: "The M55 joining the M6 northbound is a tight curve with a poor view of traffic on the M6 due to vegetation, followed by a short distance to join the M6. Vehicles are often far slower from the M55 than the traffic they are trying to merge with."

Another respondent said: "It causes big tailbacks routinely and should have two lanes to get towards the M55. The middle lane should be able to go to the M6 North and M55 West - a similar set up to the M6 South at the M61 junction."
