The Inbetweeners' actor Blake Harrison issues update on show's future

Blake Harrison has spoken out on the future of one of the nation's favourite comedy shows The Inbetweeners.

The actor, who is best known for playing the part of Neil Sutherland in the BAFTA-winning E4 comedy, appeared on ITV's Lorraine today. He looked completely different since his last Inbetweeners appearance back in 2014.

The now 36-year-old actor rose to fame playing goofball Neil over three seasons and two spin-off films. Sporting curled longer hair and a grey speckled beard, he was looking older and more mature as he chatted about his time on the show and whether or not there would be a return.

Lorraine said to him: "For you Inbetweeners really opened a lot of doors didn’t it? People have such affection for that show and the movies.

"It must have been lovely to be part of something like that, but I feel as though you probably don’t need to do anymore - it’s done. Do you feel that or do you feel there’s more stories to be told?"

Blake replied: "I feel like we’ve been done since 2014, when we did the last film. People just like it, so they want it to do more, but I don’t see that ever happening."

He then added: "But you never know."

Earlier in the year, Blake's co-star James Buckley, who played awkward teen Jay Cartwright on the show, said that he would "never return" to the show.

DJ Chris Moyles asked him: "If the people who wrote The Inbetweeners said ‘we’ve got a new script’ - it’s basically what everyone’s up to now - do you want to see it? You’d say yes?”

While James admitted that the role of Jay was “the best job in the world”, he unequivocally replied: "No."

He added: "Not because I don't think I would have an amazing time doing it, because I know I would.

"It was the best job in the world, but it might - you know, as I'm getting older - it's looking like it might be the only thing that I do professionally that is universally loved.

“There's not enough money in the world for me to spoil that.”
