The oldest part of the former seat of the Earls of Dalhousie, which overlooks the River Esk, dates back to the 15th century with the stronghold seeing battles all the way back to the days of William Wallace when the previous castle would have stood on the site.
With such rich history, it's not only a fascinating site but it has a grandiose interior to match, with traditional fittings combined with modern finishings to ensure people can enjoy a wonderful stay.
And should you not want to leave the city itself, then two other Edinburgh locations were also named on the prestigious list.
The iconic Witchery in the Old Town, with its breath-taking interiors and stylish restaurant and the grand Prestonfield House were also highlighted.
