Alyssa Healy starred as Australia beat England in the Women’s World Cup Final in Christchurch
(Picture: Getty Images)A raft of World Cup-winning Australians have signed up for this year’s women’s Hundred, while England opener Tammy Beaumont has swapped London Spirit for Welsh Fire, where she will be captain.
Batters Meg Lanning (Trent Rockets), Rachael Haynes (Welsh Fire), Beth Mooney (Spirit) and Alyssa Healy (Northern Superchargers), all-rounders Ellyse Perry (Birmingham Phoenix) and Tahlia McGrath (Southern Brave), as well as bowlers Megan Schutt (Spirit) and Alana King (Rockets) have signed up for the tournament after playing in Australia’s World Cup final win over England.
Beaumont has moved from Spirit to Fire, while her long-time England opening partner Lauren Winfield-Hill has swapped Superchargers for Oval Invincibles.
Fire look strong, with Haynes and another Australian, Anabel Sutherland, also joining alongside Alex Hartley and Fran Wilson, the former England players.
Spirit have also lost Deandra Dottin to Manchester Originals, but have signed New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr.
This year women’s salaries in the competition have increased, with the top bracket worth £31,250 and the lowest £7,500. They are still worth a quarter of the men’s contracts.
The tournament will take place after the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, which has T20 cricket as an event.
